to be honest, it’s ridiculously close between the two ships so i still have lots of brittana feels. in fact first of all i wrote ‘quitt or brittana’ but i think if you held a gun to my head i’d go with quitt. today at least. tomorrow i might pick brittana.
any writing at the moment is hard. annabelle stuff has the bonus of ashleigh kicking me to write it, whereas when i try to write haily and get stuck no one tells me what comes next.

no i’m not saying that at all.
this is literally my point: in our society (and i mean OUR ENTIRE SOCIETY, not the lgbt community) butch women are seen as undesirable. okay? that’s it that’s the point. it’s a heteronormative assumption because masculine men are supposed to be attracted to femme women the end everybody else go home. right? this is a thing that exists. it’s nothing to do with lesbians, it’s just an idea that exists. because if you’re not attractive from a male pov you might as well not exist as a woman in our culture.
so that post played into that idea and annoyed me.
that is literally my entire point.
to be clear: i don’t really give a fuck who you like. you can like whoever the fuck you want, masculine, feminine, or otherwise. my point wasn’t ‘everyone should be sexually attracted to everyone else’ because jfc i know that’s not how this works.

i disagree. just bc some women aren't attracted to 'butch' women doesn't make them undesirable. i fail to see how people reblogging a post about someone having a hard time figuring out the difference between a femme lesbian and a hipster, which i've found to be an actual dilemma in rl too, in anyway reaffirms your assumption that these people agree that butch women are unattractive. it's a huge leap.

picking out butch lesbians is easy due to heternormative gender cues. if the op was attracted to butch lesbians it would be easy. it’s not easy, it’s difficult. it’s difficult because femme lesbians are invisible (in terms of gender cues, as usually read by our culture).
like yes this person didn’t explicitly say ‘i am not attracted to butcher women’ but it’s implied by that one line that that’s the entire problem.
and honestly, that’s not even the point. they could like whoever they want to like. but that two line post implies the person isn’t attracted to butch women, which plays into the idea of butch women being unattractive. the point isn’t that this person isn’t attracted to butch women, the point is this is an assumption and idea popularized within our society so it’s not a huge leap to see how this one thing can play into that.
sorry but i don't see how it paints butch women as being undesirable. just because a lesbian is into femme women, and not butch women, doesn't make her some almighty bitch. i mean just cos i'm attracted to white skinned people doesn't make me a racist. i think you're looking a bit too much into it.

well obviously one lesbian isn’t a representative sample, but like 3000+ people reblogged it. but the point was it was playing into that idea that butch women aren’t desirable, which is a heternormative assumption that exists in our culture whether you like it or not.
and of course i’m looking into it a bit too much. i’m a queer theory phd.
