Head canon: The first person Regina came out to was Ruby.
Ruby found Regina crying outside of Granny’s one night while she was closing up. She took Regina inside, poured her a drink, and listened as Regina reluctantly admitted that: 1) she’s gay, and 2) she’s in love with Emma.
That part took 5 minutes. The part that took 3 hours was Regina talking about how it’s all Mary Margaret’s fault.
The next day, Regina ordered a cup of coffee like nothing happened and gave Ruby a $100 tip.
